“Human trafficking is a battle that is fought globally,” said Stafford.

“It is the buying and selling of people for various exploitative purposes.”

She explained the act that creates a situation of human trafficking which includes the victim being forced, threatened, deceived and the means (methods) in which this occurs.

“It is also important to remember that not only men are traffickers, they can be and are women too.

“Victims are used, abused and sold.

“They prevent you from getting hold of any support system.

“They get to know everything about the victim, including details of loved ones and threaten them with this information.

“Therefore it is not as easy as people think for victims to get out of the situation.

“Human trafficking is slavery.

“We cannot afford to do nothing when we have a voice.

“If you see something, say something,” she concluded.
