Northerns’ u-8 team on a winning streak
The team was led by Dieter Grobler (captain) and Brian Heyneke (vice captain).
The u-8 Benoni Northerns rugby team recently won the Sevens War, hosted by the Pretoria Grizzlies, in the capital city.
“The team kept their heads held high and played brilliant rugby,” said their coach, Malcolm Taylor.
The first game of the day in Pretoria was Benoni versus Loskop, with Benoni coming out on top with a score of 31-0.
Second up was Benoni versus Grizzlies, with Benoni taking the win with a score of 17-12.

The third game of the day was Benoni versus Lyccee Jules, with Benoni once again taking the win with a score of 33-5.
The scores led Benoni straight to the final, where they came up against the Grizzlies in a final showdown, Benoni walking off with the trophy after a score of 26-5.
“It was great to see young talent coming through and playing brilliant rugby,” said Taylor.
“I am proud to coach this talented team and know they will still go far,” Taylor said.
