Saleha Maharaj needs your help for Ms Inspire 2020 pageant

Ms Inspire SA Women 2020 finalist Saleha Maharaj (26) is encouraging all women to help her make a difference by filling their old handbags with old or unused make-up, sanitary towels, an old purse, roll-on, spray, lotion, or whatever gift they may have for the next person.
She started the handbag drive because she believes nothing more speaks to femininity than a handbag, and that everyone woman deserves one.
“This gives everyday women an opportunity to give back and assist fellow women in a more special individual way.
“We all have a handbag that is at the back of our cupboards which we have not used in a while.
Someone else can benefit from this.
Not only is this an empowering and charitable factor, but it is something that is very heart-warming for the recipient.”

The initiative inspired her to enter the Ms Inspire Women 2020.
“I entered because this is an ideal platform to create awareness of circumstances that are close to my heart.
“Experience teaches us many things, and if I am able to help others with what I have experienced then whatever I have faced was well worth it.”
She said most people have experienced hunger, the cold, the darkness, the bullying and the feeling of being less than their true worth at some point in their lives, and that they all need an example that’s more closer home to look up to. She said this creates the perfect basis for inspiration.
“I also feel that as women we can create a better community, by standing with one another and by being happy for each other, by empowering and encouraging each other to prosper, to do better and to overcome the stigma that has followed our race in this country. “We also need to be better examples for the youth, and let our experiences not go to waste, and resonate a mode of help for the next person.”
Saleha would like to collect the items before Christmas so that they can be submitted as gifts to the respective shelters.
