Brothers shot and killed for their car in Wattville

One of the brothers died on the scene and the second brother died of his wounds later.

Two brothers were shot dead when suspects attempted to hijack their car in Wattville on October 16.

One of the brothers died on the scene and the second brother died of his wounds later.

“As a family we are heartbroken and saddened by the loss of our two brothers.

The family is not coping. My brothers were very close and my heart is broken,” said their sister, Portia Sebulela.

A complaint of a shooting was received by Actonville police officers.

The officers drove to Khalipha Street, where a man started shooting at them.

The suspect ducked into the nearby squatter camp and ran into a yard, where he continued to shoot at the police.

The officers returned fire while calling for backup.

With the backup arriving, the suspect was cornered between houses in Khalipa, Gola and Makau streets and kept firing at the officers.

Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) officers and a patrol vehicle provided backup.

The suspect (32) was shot and killed and the officers recovered his firearm.

The second suspect is still missing.
