Fire contained in Totius Street, Crystal Park

A case of inquiry was opened at the Crystal Park Police Station as the cause of the fire is still undetermined.

One person was treated for inhalation when a fire broke out and spread to five shops at a centre in Crystal Park in the early hours of this morning (October 8).

The fire has been contained, said Disaster Management and Emergency Services (DEMS) media liaison officer Eric Maloka.

“At about 3.15am DEMS was dispatched to a complex in Totius Street, Crystal Park,” said Maloka.

“Upon arrival the complex was alight; other stations were requested as backup.”

Maloka added that five emergency vehicles and two water tankers were on scene to control the fire.

“One patient was treated for smoke inhalation,” he explained.
