The Ekurhuleni metro recently promoted 19 firefighters, including eight women, to shift managers who will lead different fire stations across the metro.
Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) head of department Sam Sibande, Emergency Services divisional head Mhlengi Makhubalo and operational manager Lifty Ngoepe welcomed the promoted firefighters to their new roles.

Makhubalo placed the rank marking onto individuals as a symbol of leadership in their new endeavour and said these promotions are in line with the metro’s vision to empower its employees, especially women.
