Bhakthi Brothers honour late father with CD

Although the event is open to all, it was sold out within three months of tickets going on sale, but CDs will be sold at the event and various shops in Actonville.

There is no better way to show love than to put it in a song, which is what Actonville residents Keshandrin (24) and Vishendrin (21) James did to honour their late father.

“Our father, Elvis James, died in February, so we decided to compose a CD with all of his favourite songs, which we personalised and recorded,” Keshandrin said.

“The CD is titled Shaktiye Jothi, which means power of light. There are eight songs recorded on it.”

The self-taught musicians pursued their love for music at the tender age of eight and five.

“We used to watch movies and sing along,” the 24-year-old explained.

“We were self-taught because at the time we could not afford to pursue music professionally.”

The brothers attended Liverpool Secondary School then went on to pursue different careers professionally while they sang together and played instruments as a hobby.

“I am a businessman and my brother is a priest,” Keshandrin said.

“We sang at many functions and named ourselves the Bhakthi Brothers.

“The songs we sing are devotional because we too would like to motivate others by showing them that anything is possible.”

The duo had such fun recording their debut CD that they are in talks of recording another one.

“Our debut CD will be launched at the Shree Benoni Gujarati Hindu Seva Samaj on August 31.”
