‘The Eliminator’ back in top form

Van Zyl shrugged off a month of indifferent form to emerge unbeaten, downing Gabriel ‘Slinger’ Le Roux in the final with a mammoth effort of 441,7m in the first set of the eight-ball final.

Benonian Thorne van Zyl is back at the top of the Grid Outlaws long-driving golf Order of Merit standings following a sensational victory in the sixth leg of the series in Roodepoort last week.

The big-hitting Norton Home Estate resident, better known as ‘The Eliminator’ in the long-drive golf community, gave West Randers a taste of what he is capable of, to secure his eighth victory of the season, ending rival Jason Vickers’ one-week stay at the top of the standings.

Vickers, a back-to-back winner at Grasslands Driving Range in Benoni, was unavailable for the sixth leg due to prior commitments, but will be accompanying Van Zyl to the European Long Drive Games in Mallorca, Spain, on August 18.
