The Friends of the Library need your help
Being in existence for over 15 years, The Friends host Book Bashes in an effort to raise funds in order to purchase new and second-hand books for the Benoni Library.
The Friends of the Benoni Library hosted another Book Bash at the Benoni Library on July 26 and 27, after which Friend Ann Smith said she is deeply concerned about the lack of public support the group has received recently.
Just over R3 000 was raised at the Book Bash but Smith said despite regular customers making their way through, general support is dwindling.

She added that donations are also on the downturn.
“You’re never on your own with a book,” said Smith.
“It keeps you company and takes you all around the world.
“We also have academic books for students, even at tertiary level.
“An engineering student recently bought books from us that included a dictionary as part of his language development skills so there really is something for everyone.”
The selection of books available from The Friends encompasses a vast collection that ranges from cooking to religion, history, business, travel, music, fitness, fiction, non-fiction and more.
