“At a residence in Grant Street, Putfontein, the suspect was found and due to the nature of the complaints his licensed firearms were confiscated. They included two rifles and two pistols.

“Further information led to the discovery of another rifle and revolver, both of which were unlicensed firearms, and a total of 371 live rounds of ammunition.

“The suspect was arrested immediately and all firearms and ammunition were confiscated.”

“The public is warned that domestic violence is a serious matter and in such cases even licensed firearms may be confiscated, which can lead to forfeiture and the licences being withdrawn upon conviction,” Giblin said.

The suspect, aged 47, will be appearing in the local magistrate’s court soon to face charges of domestic violence, malicious damage to property and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
