Trefoil Guild needs your help to upgrade daycare centre

Benoni Trefoil Guild, a branch of the Girl Guide South Africa, is seeking donations to upgrade the Nomzamo Day Care and Pre-School in Kingsway.

Chairperson Mary Webb said they have been working to upgrade an existing building but it has now exhausted their funds and they are looking into the wider community for help so they can continue with their efforts at the school.

“If you want to do something to make a difference but just don’t know where to start, look around your community until you find something that is working well and help there,” said Webb.

The funds raised from the Pop-Up Movies goes into the Good Turns account, which is currently used to improve the day care centre in Kingsway and the KwaThema Stimulation Centre for Disabled Children.

Webb explained that the day care centre has been running for nine years and is registered to look after approximately 60 children.

“However, there is a great need for early childhood education in the area and it is now a matter of urgency to provide more capacity, she said.

“In order to comply with regulations, it is essential to get another classroom and this is what our Guild has been doing.”

Webb added that this is a school that has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence in Ekurhuleni, it has dedicated staff members and management.

“It truly deserves our support.”

The day care centre would also appreciate donation of food and suitable toys for the toddlers.
