He began his career in the SAPS in 1991 after his training in Pretoria.

He joined the Crystal Park Police Station in 2001 and he was promoted to warrant officer in 2010.

Mokoena, who has been serving the SAPS for 28 years, shared his plans on earning trust from the community and putting criminals behind bars.

The Daveyton resident said he wants to improve the image of the police in the Crystal Park area.

“I want the police to have a relationship with the community and I will have an open-door policy for the community members who want to raise their concerns or want to query service delivery,” said Mokoena.

He encourages the community to report any criminal activity, no matter how small.

“The community must not be afraid to contact me or the station commander at any time. Day or night, we are available to them,” he said.

Crystal Park SAPS station commander Col Belinda Motaung said she is pleased with Mokoena’s appointment.

“Mokoena is very passionate and committed to his work. You don’t have to push him to do his work and he is always willing to go the extra mile,” said Motaung.
