Princess Charlene visits a Daveyton school with her children

The princess hopes to make many more trips to South Africa with her royal twins.

Her Serene Highness (HSH) Princess Charlene of Monaco returned to her roots in Benoni, and this time she brought her royal twins with.

The princess took her little ones on February 20 to visit Gugulesizwe Primary School in Daveyton, after adopting the school a few years ago, to help it with educational development and progress.

And that’s not all they did.

Together, they watered the plants and planted the trees in the garden of the school that was named after her.

On their first visit to South Africa, Monaco’s royal twins, Princess Gabriella and hereditary Prince Jacques, paid a visit to a local Spur in Benoni to celebrate their grandfather, Mike Wittstock’s birthday on February 8. According to their mother, “the two love our traditional biltong and potjie kos”.

Princess Charlene and her twins, who are four-year-old, are currently in the country enjoying what warm, sunny and festive South Africa has to offer.

“This visit is an opportunity for me and my children to share a special moment in my homeland and I wanted my kids to see where I grew up and a place I love and call home,” said Princess Charlene.

The family have been on a game drive, outdoor adventures and a few sporting activities in KZN to show support for their mother’s charitable work through her foundation.

While busy with a full day of interviews on February 18, the twins were up in their room at Emperors Palace playing with their cousins, Aiva and Raigen Wittstock.

The royal family arrived on the night of February 7, and the following morning they went to pay a visit to their cousins’ school, St Dunstan’s Preparatory College in Rynfield, Benoni.

They had some play time with pupils from their class.

The twins played and engaged with their cousins together with their class mates and also had a few minutes to spare on the school’s jungle gym.

The twins also paid a special visit to their grandparents, Lynette and Mike Wittstock’s home in Rynfield. They also made another stop to visit their uncle, Sean Wittstock.

“My kids are genetically blessed when it comes to sports, I would love for them to participate in as many sports activities they possibly can, sport is good for one’s health and mental fitness,” Princess Charlene said.

Although they are too young to comprehend most of the visit, Princess Charlene is confident that this will be a first of many more visits, where she and the twins can build more special memories in South Africa and Africa.

She loves to visit South Africa in February. When asked why, she jokingly said: “To escape the cold weather in Europe and plus now my father things, the twins, are here, especially for his birthday.”
