Condolences pour in for the late Jerry’s Café owner

A memorial service will be held for Jerry Cindi on Wednesday (February 20) at his café.

Heartfelt condolences have streamed in since the news of the death of well-known Benoni businessman Jerry Cindi yesterday (February 15), who died following a battle with throat cancer.

Cindi was the owner of Jerry’s Café, in Rynfield.

His family and the manager of the restaurant have so far declined to comment to the City Times but said, however, they will provide more information soon.

The owners of a neighbouring restaurant, who wished to remain anonymous, knew Cindi well and said he will be missed.

“We were very close to Jerry and visited his restaurant often.

“We were shocked and disheartened by the news of his passing.”

Regular customer Thulani Mabaso said: “I am really shocked by Jerry’s death.

“He was one of the most humble people you could have come across.

“My sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

Another regular customer, Richard Smith, said he loved going to Jerry’s Café.

“I was distressed by the news and wish his family and friends strength,” he said.

“Life is so short; we should not take it for granted.”
