Home-Start says thank you to volunteers

Volunteers of the organisation assist by visiting families, working in the charity shop and offering support to help reduce operating costs from legal, auditing, social media and marketing, to name a few.

Home-Start SA hosted a breakfast at Jerry’s Café in Rynfield recently to present certificates of appreciation and a small gift to their volunteers.

The NPO offers a number of programmes to assist people within Benoni and Daveyton.

These programmes include:

• Home visits to assist parents on how to communicate more effectively with their children and step-by-step advice for resolving family conflict.

• The bereavement programme offers group support to children who have lost a parent or a loved one.

• Play Therapy. This is a form of counselling that uses children’s natural language of play to communicate.

Jill Edgar, the marketing coordinator of Home-Start said: “We would like to thank all the volunteers for their dedication and commitment.

“Without them, we would not be able to make a difference in the lives of the children and families we support.”
