Watch: Hang 10 art festival hosted by local art society a great success

With a total of 18 plays between two nights and a good public turnout, the societies ensured they played their part in creating a world of entertainment for the audiences.

Protea Stage Productions hosted their annual Hang 10 performance art festival at Tom Newby Primary School in Airfield from September 21 to 22.

The Hang 10 festival is held by Protea and societies from across the province are invited to be part of the production.

The evenings encompassed a variety of 10-minute plays depicting various genres and relatable scenes from domesticated life as well as lifestyle choices and a comedic twist to the performances were the order of the day.

Local societies that partook in the festival were Protea Stage Productions and Startime Players.

Irony, wit, charm, comedy, contemporary lifestyles and life in the wake of technology kept the audiences enthralled.

The plays performed, according to Protea committee member Michael Brownhill, were open to public interpretation.

“We do try to factor in a comedic element into our productions but there was no specific theme,” he explained.
