The man was found safe.

A Daveyton man, who was hijacked, was found by the Benoni Flying Squad tied up in the back of his vehicle on Monday (August 20).

“To their surprise, they found the victim still tied up in the back of the bakkie,” Giblin said.

“Fortunately he was unharmed but understandably in a state of shock.”

Two more abandoned vehicles were found in Benoni on Monday.

“During the morning a blue Toyota Yaris was found in Victoria Avenue with a false registration number,” Giblin said.

“Members investigated and upon tracing the original VIN number it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen in July 2018.

“At around 1.30pm, members came across a Blue BMW at Lakeside Mall after it was hijacked earlier in Daveyton.”

On August 21, Constable Tso Mokobane was responsible for two vehicle recoveries.

• A silver Polo recovered in Actonville and taken from Boksburg.

• A white Toyota Hilux recovered on the N12 Daveyton off-ramp taken from Delmas.

Giblin said at this stage no suspects were arrested and the investigation continues.

“Police members are taking pride of their job and they always take into account the needs of the community,” he said.
