BFS arrests five for different crimes

A successful weekend for the squad.

The Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) made five arrests and recovered three vehicles between August 17 and 19 in Benoni CBD, Actonville and Wattville.

“Two suspects were arrested in a retail store in Voortrekker Avenue for fraud and theft after voiding a cash transaction,” said BFS WO Grant Giblin.

Another two suspects were arrested in Lakeside and Daveyton malls for shoplifting.

“In further policing, three stolen motor vehicles were recovered, a blue Toyota Yaris in Rabie Ridge, a white Toyota Etios in Actonville and a white Nissan 1400 in Wattville,” Giblin explained.

The one suspect who was found in the Toyota Yaris was arrested, but the other two vehicles were recovered after being abandoned.

“Investigation continues on all suspects and vehicles,” Giblin said.

All suspects, aged between 19 and 49, will be appearing soon in their respective local magistrate’s courts facing charges of shoplifting, theft, fraud and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
