Police on a manhunt for Daveyton robbery suspects

A case of business robbery, murder and attempted murder was opened at the Daveyton Police Station.

Police have launched a manhunt for five armed men who allegedly robbed a gambling outlet in Ses’fikile Square, Daveyton, on August 15 at around 5.45pm, shooting a customer dead and wounding three staff in the process.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele said five armed men reportedly entered the business and ordered everyone to lie down.

“As customers lay down, the five men went to the counters and demanded money from the cashiers,” said Sekele.

“One of customer’s tried to run away and he was shot in the upper body while three female cashiers were shot in the lower body.”

The man died on the scene, Sekele said, adding that the suspects fled with cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money.
