ANC councillors in Ekurhuleni successfully complete Leadership course in Municipal Governance

The determination of councillors to complete the course shows education is fundamental to positive growth

ANC Ekurhuleni caucus congratulated the ANC councillors for successfully completing a course of Leadership in Municipal Governance. They graduated at the Wits School of Governance on July 12.

“This is a clear demonstration that the ANC government, through its councillors, will continue to serve the community of Ekurhuleni with utmost diligent and commitment to ensure that the good work the organisation presides over will benefit the residents,” ANC Ekurhuleni chief whip Jongizizwe Dlabathi said.

“In the year of Nelson Mandela and Adelaide Tambo centenary, we are once more reminded ‘No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated,” Dlabathi said quoting Mandela.

The following councillors completed their course on record time:

• Clr Tiisetso Nketle

• Clr Phelisa Nkunjana

• Clr Sizakele Masuku

• Clr Remoe Mokone

• Clr Mziyanda Mketsu

In his congratulatory remarks, Dlabathi said: “Congratulations to our fellow ANC councillors in Ekurhuleni.”

“Our commitment to build capable public representatives is a standing commitment.

Following the 2016 Local Government Elections, through the executive, the current administration has committed to do the following over the next five years:

•Improve service delivery through a visible and impactful programme supported by Capex spending

•Electrification of all informal settlement

•Construction of 100 000 housing units

•Provision of 59 000 service stands

“Through this government, the ANC-led government in Ekurhuleni further reaffirmed its stance on education by increasing the bursary allocation from R10-million to R100-m.

“This is to ensure that more young people from Ekurhuleni gain access to institutions of higher learning and pursue their dreams.

“Our commitment to good governance and clean administration is a standing commitment,” he said.
