Benoni serial rapist still at large

The man is linked to over 50 cases through DNA evidence.

The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is still searching for Benoni’s serial rapist.

A R50 000 reward has been offered by police for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, who is linked to over 50 cases through DNA evidence.

Forty of the victims are school children.

These cases date back to 2014, in Crystal Park, Daveyton, Etwatwa and Putfontein.

The last case was opened in November 2017, in Putfontein.

The suspect is described as short, slender but masculine, has a scar below his left eye, is isiZulu speaking and wears a beanie or cap.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster police spokesperson Lt Col Mack Mngomezulu said it is alleged the suspect poses as a plumber from the municipality.

“He tells residents that he fixes leaking taps, pipes and geysers and then residents allow him to enter their premises to check for any leaks,” said Mngomezulu.

“Once he is inside the premises and realises there is no one else in the house, he threatens victims with a knife or firearm and rapes them.”
