Horticultural Society educated on herbs

Patsy Vergeer was the guest speaker.

The Benoni Horticultural Society members were educated on herbs by guest speaker Patsy Vergeer on Saturday (May 19) at the Four Seasons Nursery in Fairleads.

Vergeer spoke about her passion and interest in herbs and potions.

She educated the attendees on different herbs and their functions.

Vergeer started Patsy’s Potions 23 years ago and makes her own healing, beauty and culinary products.

Stocks include aromatherapy oils, books, natural ingredients and a comprehensive range of dried herbs and spices.

She also makes and sells pure glycerine soaps, Castille soaps, bath salts, bubble bath, shower gel and liquid hand soaps. For those who have sensitive skin, buy the natural washing powder she makes.

The Kempton Park resident also offers lectures in English, Afrikaans and Dutch on all aspects of plants and herbs.

Patsy’s Potions on-going 20 module herbs and herbal products course includes lectures and workshops.

Vergeer became the regional representative for the Herb Association of South Africa (HAoSA) and received many accolades for her work, including Herb Lady of the Year and Cultural Lady of the Year awards.

Carroll Dantu enjoys tea and cake.

 

She has travelled and lived in Holland, teaching Dutch to British and Turkish children and also taught herbal cooking, participating in a community herb garden for eight years.
