Benoni Northerns Cricket Club (BNCC) held their senior prize-giving for the 2017/2018 Eastern Cricket Union season.
It was a relatively successful season for the club’s senior sides with the Legends XI (over 35-year-olds) going unbeaten throughout the season.
The club’s Premier League Two side were unlucky to finish second behind Boksburg after going unbeaten in their league. Bonus points and rain draws forced them to settle for the runner-up spot.
The Premier League One side led the league for most of the campaign until the final two fixtures. They were defeated in the play-off final against rivals Kempton Park.
The club’s Chairman’s XI also finished as runners-up in their competition.
Ernest Kemm (currently plying his trade in the UK) was announced as the club’s Senior Player of the Year for the third time in four years.
He will not be returning to the club next season.
Premier League legend Mark Robey was also presented with a special award after retiring from elite club cricket, while Matthew Wright (now playing for CBC Old Boys Boksburg) was also acknowledged for his years of long service to the club.
