Upcoming Wattville DJ wants to become a household name

Music will help him achieve his dreams

Lethukuthula Rasegwete, known as DJ Lethu, has released a five track EP called Views from Gqomville.

The Wattville resident said he is both a house and a gqom DJ who has played at events such as Rock Da Shades.

“Coming from a family of musicians, I have always had a passion for music,” he said.

The 23-year-old would like to become a household name both locally and internationally.

“DJ Tira is someone I would ultimately like to work with,” he said.

When asked if he thought this particular genre of music would last, Lethu answered with a confident yes.

“People will always listen to gqom because people always want to party,” said Lethu.

“There is a lot of room for growth so that the sound can be perfected.”

Lethu’s future plans include giving others a chance to achieve their dreams just like he was given a chance.

By doing this he hopes that other DJs will get the opportunity to come up with new ways to create music.

He said through hard work and dedication he is able to make things happen and get the job done.

This goes hand-in-hand with perseverance and never giving up.

Lethu said: “It’s not going to work out for a very long time.”

“Do it for the love and not just for the money because that will show and you won’t succeed as well as you would if you only focus on the money. You must have passion.”

Describing himself as a “loner” who keeps a small circle of friends, he relies on them to give him feedback on all his songs before he releases them.
