The two specialise in trap, electro and progressive house music.

The duo explained where the name Voltrex, is derived from.

“It came from a combination of two words, ‘voltage’ and ‘tracks’ which mean tracks emit high voltages to make you dance,” the duo said.

It all began for them at the ice rink in Northgate.

Ngwenya and Sibanda love ice-skating and competed at the Battle of the DJs event through which they became the Resident DJs of the Tri-Ice Arenas around Gauteng.

The two said they love performing at The Festival because the crowd is always amazing and full of energy.

“They must expect to be blown away by the mix of top tracks in different genres and also expect a lot of dancing,” Sibanda said.

They also encouraged people to attend The Festival.

“The Festival is a very safe, multi-cultural gathering of different people from different backgrounds coming together to share, dance and listen to their favourite music,” the two explained.

Since their debut performance at The Festival in 2016, the team said their music has evolved.

“It has become more of a mixture of commercial music combined and remixed with festival edits that will leave you in a euphoric state,” said Ngwenya.

Apart from performing for the crowd, the two look forward to interacting with them.

Voltrex also has a resident contributor spot on the 94.7 Saturday Bloc Party with their slot called “It’s A Trap with Voltrex.”
