Jeffrey, who is the managing director of TT Connect, said he disagrees with Haggard and said there is a lot of miscommunication.

He said the reason is that TT Connect follows the Electronic Communications Act and the obligations provided by the Act have been met.

In an interview on Caxton Radio Benoni, Jeffrey was asked why infrastructure is being damaged.

Jeffrey responded by saying that at times it is inevitable to damage infrastructure, but he has been following the maps and guidelines provided by council.

According to the director, a meeting was held between the fibre company and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) on March 13 and it was agreed again that the EMM would do a site visit 24-hours prior to TT Connect digging.

Jeffrey said on March 19 that digging will be completed over the course of the next few days.

“We will then have a clean-up phase for two weeks to ensure the houses look like they did before,” Jeffrey said.

Jeffrey asked Farrarmere residents to contact Candice Davies if they are unhappy after the clean-up phase was completed.

Davies can be contacted on 079 425 9168.

A meeting was due to be held with another fibre company, Vumatel and the public on March 22, but no feedback was received from Haggard at the time of going to print.
