LETTER: Beggars need an intervention

Bob Gillies shares his thoughts.

Bob Gillies writes:

I am fully aware of the glassy-eyed begging boys.

Springs has many of these youngsters at the traffic lights who touch their lips and give a feeble wave, but are in fact begging for drug money. They would not be allowed to be in the road in other countries.

They are a nuisance and a danger to motorists.

If they are given money, that keeps the drug dealers in business and we have many of those in Springs.

The EMPD should pick them up, charge them with jaywalking and take them to the nearest clinic for drug testing and interrogation.

Find out who their dealers are and hunt them down while keeping the youngsters in the cells until a relative can collect them and explain why they are doing what they do.
