“[We] also [crafted] the way forward in dealing with the scourge of crime and to also revive the partnership,” said Actonville SAPS spokesperson Capt Pheello Mothapo.

“The meeting was successful.”

According to Mothapo, both agreed to work together on the following:

• The izinduna promised to expose and identify suspected criminals in the hostel.

• To encourage the hostel residents to be part of reservists and community patrollers.

• Engage in meetings with the SAPS on a continuous basis.

“The biggest challenge is criminals from other areas come to Actonville, commit crime and run to the hostel [to] hide,” Mothapo said.
