Woman arrested for perjury

The woman is expected to appear at the Benoni Magistrate's Court.

A 44-year-old woman, who opened a case of business robbery, was arrested for perjury.

The woman was arrested on February 19 at a business in Voortrekker Street, Benoni CDB.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson, Capt Nomsa Sekele said the woman reported the case, at the Benoni Police Station, and said an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

“However, after further questioning, the women confessed that she took the money,” said Sekele.

She was then arrested and detained at the Benoni SAPS.

Sekele urges the public not to open false cases.

“We warn people not to report false information, as we will catch them and perjury is a criminal offence,” she said.

The woman is expected to appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court today (February 20).
