One injured in O’Reilly Merry Street accident

Seven people were involved.

A woman sustained minor injuries in an accident in Northmead this afternoon (February 2).

The two-vehicle collision happened on O’Reilly Merry Street, near Malherbe Road.

Clair Wolstencroft, ER24 spokesperson, said five people were uninjured in one of the vehicles.

A female driver in the second vehicle, a bakkie, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Netcare Linmed Hospital.

A teenage boy in the same bakkie was not injured.

Meanwhile, a man believed to be in his 40s was this morning in a critical condition after a collision with a truck on the R21 in Benoni.

At approximately 6.30am, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the driver in his vehicle.

“The man was treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care,” said Annine Siddall, ER24 spokesperson.

“The exact details surrounding the incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene.”
