Rain spoils Drakensburg choir show

The Drakensberg Boys’ Choir was set to serenade Benoni residents on November 23, but due to bad weather the show was cancelled.

However, on November 27 the community was treated to a performance by the choir at @ The Bistro in Rynfield.

The 56 boys taking part in the Johannesburg leg of the choir’s Noël Tour were set to perform 10 songs at the cancelled event at Benoni Northerns Sports Club.

“The aim is to showcase the band and the choir,” said artistic director Bernard Kruger.

“It is to show that choral music is different.”

Kruger said the boys were looking forward to entertaining audiences and that this gave them a great opportunity to experience the life of a performing artist.

In celebration of the school’s 50th anniversary, the choir performed at various locations around Gauteng over the weekend of November 24 to 26.
