Body of security guard found buried

A man was arrested on Friday after a security guard’s body was found buried on the premises of a company in Lincoln Road, Benoni South.

The body was found on November 24 at about 2am.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster police spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said it is alleged the security officer left his guardroom to patrol the premises as there are people who work nightshift at the company.

“As he was patrolling he found two employees stealing,” said Sekele.

“According to one of the suspects, the officer caught them red-handed and they tried to bribe him.”

When the man refused the bribe and made to call for assistance from his colleagues, the two men allegedly assaulted him with an unknown object.

The two men then buried him, Sekele said.

When the officer’s colleagues realised he had been gone for some time, they called the police, who searched the premises and discovered the body.

“One of the employees was arrested and the police are hoping to arrest the second man soon,” Sekele said.

A case of murder has been opened at Actonville Police Station.
