Santa Sleigh fund-raiser comes to Ebotse

The Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora took to the streets of Ebotse Golf and Country Estate in pursuit of donations for their second annual Santa Sleigh fund-raiser.

Members and club supporters drove around on the back of bakkies and in golf carts, blasting Christmas music and blowing on vuvuzelas in good spirit as they encouraged Ebotse residents to make donations for the less fortunate.

The club welcomed gifts, clothes, food and money to be distributed to various charities in Benoni.

Miss Benoni Jennifer de Beer also joined Santa on his sleigh.

Rotary Aurora president Lindy van Moerkerken said people are usually very generous.

“We received a fair amount of toys for small children and people donated some old furniture as well,” said van Moerkerken.

She said they also received a lot of cash, but it has yet to be counted.

The remaining three Santa Sleigh events will be in Lakefield on December 2, December 8 in Dalpark (Brakpan) and on December 9 in La Como Lifestyle Estate (Boksburg).
