Residents raise funds for sick girl

A group of residents from Ebotse Golf and Country Estate hosted their first Diwali Ball on October 28.

According to Indran Govender, it was decided that the money raised would be donated to Thermishaa Soman from Actonville.

Thermishaa will undergo a stem cell replacement procedure in India in December.

About 160 people attended the ball.

A total amount of R20 000 was raised and handed over to the parents of Thermishaa to use towards her medical treatment.

Govender thanked the Ebotse Homeowners Association for their assistance as well as residents for their support.

“Next year, we look forward to hosting our second annual Ebotse Diwali Ball and we remain committed to making yet another positive contribution to our community, ” said Govender.

Nishanta Rampersad, (Thermishaa’s aunt) said that the family was grateful for all the efforts that the community had made.

Ramperstad said about R157 000 had been raised so far and that another fund-raiser would be held on December 8 to raise the remainder of the money that is needed for the treatment.

Thermishaa is booked to have her surgery done in India on December 15.
