“Uncertain as to how long the pup had been tied up, he quickly pulled over and rescued the confused animal and took him straight to the Benoni SPCA,” the society wrote.

The puppy is apparently about four months old and in good health.

The post also urged member of the community to contact the Benoni SPCA inspectorate if they have any information about who left the puppy there.

“One would think that, by now, our staff would be accustomed to the inconceivable acts of deliberate cruelty we witness every day,” the post reads.

The SPCA cleverly named the pup TJ, after the street he was found on – Tom Jones.

According to the SPCA, he will be put up for adoption soon.

In the meantime, the society said those who want to make a donation towards TJ’s upkeep can SMS the words “SPCA rescue” to 49040 at R15 an SMS.
