Man arrested for vehicle theft

A 29-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle in Daveyton on October 23.

Daveyton SAPS spokesperson Capt Mesh Makole said it is alleged that the complainant was at a tavern when his car was stolen.

“When he went outside after an hour, his vehicle was not there,” said Makole.

The Toyota Corolla he was driving was stolen at Turton Street on October 22 at around 1.30am.

“The following day, police received a tip-off about the same vehicle spotted around the area.”

When police followed up on the information, they went to the said street and spotted the vehicle, which was driven by the man.

He was charged for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

He is expected to appear at Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
