No casualties on the day
Netcare Linmed Hospital commemorated International Trauma Day on October 13.
The hospital held wheelchair races for the different departments in the hospital.
The casualty ward won the race.
The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services conducted a mock-up vehicle accident scene demonstration outside the hospital.
The Farrarmere and Rynfield fire departments were present to show their role at an accident scene along with a demonstration on some of their equipment.
Hayden Koch from the Ekurhuleni Emergency Services talked the audience through the procedure.
Koch said when there are bystanders at a trauma scene it is important for people to stand behind the cordoned off area in order to avoid being injured and to avoid disturbing emergency services who are at the scene.
Netcare paramedics also demonstrated their function at an accident scene.
