Warning signs placed on O’Reilly Merry island

Warning signs have been placed on the island on O’Reilly Merry Street after a man drove into the island in June.

Mark Robey was travelling in his vehicle on the busy street, approaching 14th Avenue at 10.30pm, when his car hit the island.

His vehicle sustained damage worth R2 500.

“There were no lights or signs and the right side of my car hit the island,” Robey said.

“My wheels and rims were damaged and need to be fixed.”

Ward 27 Clr Jacques Meiring said he contacted the EMM on June 24 regarding warning signals, which have now been placed on the island.
