Elderly spring into new season

Residents of The Old People’s Home sprung up, dressed up and showed up for the annual spring walk on Saturday afternoon at the premises on Woburn Avenue.

It was a great success and every year it seems to be growing,” said activities co-ordinator, Saskia Badenhorst.

“The residents were really excited for the day and a lot of them participated in the walk.”

The day was held as a welcome to spring and an overall fun day for residents to spend with their family and the community.

“We had a braai for everyone and a beer tent,” Badenhorst said.

“There was non-alcoholic drinks available for the residents and alcoholic drinks available for their families.”

Along with the spring walk, lunch and family time, HunTer was also the entertainment for the day.

“We also had prizes for best dressed, best mobility aid, endurance, first to finish the walk and a few other prizes for those who could not finish but tried,” Badenhorst added.

“This event is held annually and we welcome members of the community to join our fun day whether they have family at the home or not.”
