Old Bens get valuable win

Old Bens Football Club’s Super League and Super League Reserves were both victorious when they travelled to Alberton on Saturday, August 19.

The club’s reserve team set the tone for the day with a 2 – 0 victory over their Alberton counterparts.

Coach Raymond Cloete’s first XI bagged an important three points, winning a tough game 3 – 1 to keep Old Bens in fourth position on the league table.

Importantly for Bens they still have two games in hand.

Benoni Northerns Football Club’s (BNFC) first side is one point ahead of their neighbours in third place but they have played two more games than Bens.

Coach Jannie van den Berg’s BNFC enjoyed a bye weekend.

His side will play Highlands Park away on Saturday while Bens host league leaders Randburg at Currin Park.

The reserve side will open proceedings at 1.45pm followed by the first team clash at 3.30pm.
