The smoke in Benoni’s sky this morning could be the result of this
Smoke should be visible over parts of Benoni this morning (August 21) as the Korsman Conservancy plans to conduct an annual ecological grass burn to three sections of the sanctuary.
The burn will take place if the weather allows for it to be done safely.

It is due to happen between 8am and noon and the fire department will be on scene.
“The wind forecast is that it can be safely accomplished, and it will only go ahead if the conditions are ideal,” said Jane Tembath, of the Korsman Conservancy.
“Smoke may drift over The Drive for short periods.”
After the burn, stumps and logs may smoulder for several days.
“Please do not be alarmed, they are all located in safe areas and we will monitor afterwards,” Trembath added.
