Stormwater drainage remains a problem

Stormwater drainage has been a concern to Ward 27 Clr Jacques Meiring for several months, but still, many of the open drains remain unfixed.

A man fell into an open manhole on April 17 at the circle in Seventh Street, Northmead.

“The department lacks response to stormwater issues that we as councillors escalate,” Meiring said.

“This manhole was fixed the next day after the man was injured and tended to by the paramedics.”

According to Meiring, he has sent hundreds of emails to the metro complaining about the stormwater issue.

“I will make council account for every single one that I report,” Meiring added.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) had not responded to any questions from the City Times at the time of going to print.
