Pole Physiques scores at Nationals

Pole Physiques Studio in Benoni took home several titles from the National Pole Sports Competition on April 8 in Randburg.

“This competition is the pinnacle of all Pole Sports competitions internationally,” said the owner of the studio, Benita Bouwer.

“It allows athletes who qualify to not only measure personal standards via a transparent scoring system but also to partake in the World Pole Sports Championships.”

The International Pole Sports Federation will be hosting the World Pole Sports Championships (WPSC) in the Netherlands from June 30 to July 2.

The ladies from Pole Physiques Studio who competed in the nationals are:

•Angie Heliopoulos – Senior Women Professional division (winner)

•Embeth Houston-McMillan – Senior Women Elite division (silver medallist)

•Benita Bouwer – Masters 40+ (winner)

•Daniella Baker – Senior Women Professional division (silver medallist)

•Twanette Laubser – Novice Children – Elite division (silver medallist)

“This competition set the benchmark for pole competitions,” Bouwer said.

“It is based on a code of points whereby athletes are judged for their respective levels of strength and flexibility, as well as their athletic capabilities and artistic interpretation.”

Winning this title for Bouwer and her studio proves to her that the studio is one of the best performing studios in South Africa.

“Winning my division means getting my foot on an international stage, representing South Africa, leading by example for our Pole Physiques Studio students and inspiring people to work hard and pursue their dreams,” Bouwer added.

“Regardless of age or our country’s junk status, our slogan is Passion, Power and Pizazz.

“And that is how I want to enter the stage, and leave my mark.”
