Freeze dead pigeons

Judy Davidson, of Wildlife in Crisis, writes:

I write in response to a letter published in the issue of March 24, headlined ‘Pigeons die’.

If it is possible, please request that the pigeons found be frozen and to contact us for collection so we might be able to do an autopsy and find cause of death.

Yearly, we deal with large numbers of doves, pigeons and owls (who eat the doves and pigeons) that are brought in by public for treatment of a disease called trichomoniasis.

If the disease is caught early enough, it is treatable, but we are by no means winning the fight against this disease.

We hope this might help with a bit of info, but will need a sample bird or two to check and verify that this is what is causing the deaths.
