Micro entrepreneurs learn more

Micro entrepreneurs learned more about business at a free one-day training course held at the White House Healing Centre in Western Extension, recently.

The course forms part of Paradigm Shift, which is a programme used by churches to teach people in their communities basic business skills, so they can lift themselves out of poverty.

The basics of doing business were handled in the programme.

Attendees were taught business definitions and jargon, how to identify business opportunities and how small markets work.

They also learned how to plan their costs and maximise profit.

In addition, the course covered the subjects of advertising, investment and budgeting within a small business.

Ronnie de Klerk, director of the White House Healing Centre and Sinomsebenzi, addresses his students.

For those who missed this seminar, another will be held at the centre on March 25.

Attending one of the single-day seminars is a prerequisite for the full 18-week business course, which will be hosted by Paradigm Shift from March 28.

According to Allan Holmes, contact person for Paradigm Shift, the longer programme will cover branding, sales, stock levels, basic record-keeping, as well as everything covered in the short course, though more in depth.

“We want to teach these entrepreneurs these basics to help them start or grow their businesses,” he said.
