Benoni climatologist Clive Webber said he recorded 88mm at his Rynfield home from early Monday morning until this morning (February 24).

This is how much rainfall Webber recorded each day:

• Monday – 26.8mm

• Tuesday – 49mm

• Wednesday – 0.4mm

• Thursday – 11.6mm

• Friday (up until 9am) – 0.2mm

The highest amount of precipitation in a 30 minute period was recorded on Monday at 7.2mm, between 2.30pm and 3pm.

This bout of rain brings February’s total rainfall in Benoni to 112.6mm.

Webber said the average rainfall for February since 1970 is 95.9mm.
