Martin du Plessis, the owner of Truth and Integration Verification and Investigation Company (TIVIC), said he was interviewing five people from a Hillbrow hotel.
“One person came in and the next thing he sat down and got emotional and started crying, before leaving the room,” the Farrarmere resident said.
“He returned and a minute later when he sat down, he got aggressive and started shouting.
“As he left the second time he pulled out a gun.”
Du Plessis said he was expecting a “bloodbath” during the standoff.
The man later walked out and handed the weapon to a colleague.
Du Plessis said it was the most terrifying experience in his career as a polygrapher.
