Benoni All Stars Football Club (BAS FC) have raised the bar and passionately taken the progression of their teams to the next level, both as individuals and team players.

In an era where there is a dire need for acceptable alternatives for our children, both parents and coaches have embraced the challenge and provided the perfect platform for kids to grow.

Recently, BAS FC held their inaugural “2016 Little Stars” soccer tournament, which was attended by 41 teams from across the province (from Laudium, Marlboro, Lenasia, Roshnee, Klerksdorp and Bakerton) and represented youth from u-6 through to u-10.

Tournament rules were underpinned with “fair play” as the true message, with every participating individual being awarded a medal.

The event, held at the Actonville Stadium, proved to be a huge success, with great participation, team play, passion and skill demonstrated by the various teams.

Messages of support, appreciation and acknowledgement poured in from the various towns after the event, all calling for this to become a landmark event in the Benoni area, a fitting season close indeed.

Raihana Cajee, an u-7 team player said: “We had lots of fun and we are the best players.”

Tasneem Sayed, coach’s assistant and mother of two appreciated the challenges and manner in which the children were given the opportunity to improvise and use their imagination.

Farouk Jallal, chairman of BAS FC, said that the club aims to create a legacy.
