EMM to relaunch chamber
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) is set to relaunch the Business Chamber, to strengthen cordial relations between the city and business.
This emerged on Friday, at a business breakfast meeting hosted by Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina.
Masina said tying the knot with the business sector was key to tackling the social issues facing the city.
“Our objective is to emancipate the economic state of the region, through enhancing our ‘poor power programme’, to eradicate poverty,” said EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
“We want to also provide support to local businesses and we seek to attract investments and provide job opportunities.
“We strongly want to support local products, especially those which are produced in township businesses, without sidelining big businesses.
“We want to ensure that we turn Ekurhuleni into a manufacturing site.”
The business consultation engagement was welcomed by the local business sector.
