Man arrested for Fairleads rape
A man was arrested on Friday morning (September 9) after allegedly raping, assaulting and breaking into the house of woman in Fairleads.
“The woman returned to her home in Fairleads on September 2 when she found two suspects in her house,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Const Zunickha Essakjee.
“The suspects took her into her garage and covered her head with a blanket before raping and strangling her.”
A case of assault, rape and housebreaking was opened at the Crystal Park Police Station.
“The suspect was arrested in Rynfield and is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on Monday (September 12),” Essakjee added.
Police are still on the lookout for the second suspect.
The condition of the woman was not known at the time of publishing.
